2010 World cup in South Africa FIFA Promotion team

When I received this as a word document in a phishing email, I had to share. Take a look at the graphics – the scammers that sent this email are trying to look official by showing pictures of people who won their lottery; they are so incompetent that they actually used a picture from a Michigan Lotto Winner!

To top it all off, they claim to be using a new ‘java-based’ software package to generate results, as if that matters (perhaps their DOS based package gave away too many funds : ).

Here is the scam below:

I just received an sms that I have won R 450 000 due to the 2012 FIFA yearly mobile competition, and that I must contact Dr Williams to claim my price. I phoned and knew it was a fraud and spoke to a black Nigerian stating he is Dr Williams, I aksed him if they have a office in SA and he said no, this is already a no no give away tht they do not exist. I also asked him about all the other aliaces he has on the net, and he replied it is people that do not believe him that placed it there. I alos told him that FIFA in SA know nothing about the competition, his commetn was that it is only from the UK. This is just one more scam and I wish that MTN and Vodacom can stop people like this to get cellular numbers in SA.

I don’t know who you are because your name was not indicated. It is very said to tell you that you fell into the hand of Scams. Both the IMFCA and FBI are not the real FBI of Nigeria. They are under impersonation with Carol Anne Hewitt to promote her scam artist.

    More of this scam below:
My name is Mrs. Marian Rholiya. I was equally victimized early last year. February 26th 2010. I was contacted by Mr. James Hooks under the pretence to give me loan. He said i will only have to pay $215usd to process the loan to my account. There after he keeps demanding for more money. I sent him almost $3964usd before I realize that he was not real. I was under a helpless situation till I was directed by a lady Mrs. Catherine Ronoh to a savior Mr. Harrizona Broutos early this year 13th January 2011. He actually gave me loan and brought back my helpless situation. I will advise you to be very careful of these so called lenders out there who claim to be lender, but they are out there to defraud.

Though I do not have his contact number right here, you can reach him. I only paid $103usd. The beautiful aspect of it was that I got my loan. Mrs. Catherine Ronoh equally obtained loan through his company.

Got a sms from “johnny Morgan” saying that my cell number has been chosen to win R450,000 – Reference SA/P286. Please note in above comments he has also called himself Richard Morgan. I phoned, got a man with an African accent, he got upset when I started asking him some questions. (I knew this was a scam). Among the questions I asked him was “You sound African, how come you have a British name?” He got very upset, he said that he was born in England, so I then asked him why he did not have a British accent, he started stumbling over incoherent words, So I called him a F…..g Nigerian crook and he slammed down the phone. I have not been able to get through to him again, because I have plans on terrorising/harrasing the shit out of him. The number the call came through on is 082 683 5278 and the number I was told to phone on the sms is 071 027 1279. Surely, with this RICA thingy they should be able to trace this pig. I wonder how many victims has fallen prey to him.

I phoned the \Dr\ who turned out to be a Black man, I asked him what type of doctor he is and where does he practise. He gave such a lame stupid reply. I was then told that I have to pay R720 registration fee in order to get the money paid over to me. I said I have no money, why does he not take R1 000 off the amount and send me the rest. I also asked for documentation to be send to me, I am still waiting. From the beginning I realised it was a scam, but still phoned just to make sure and of course, the \doctor\ lends a bit of credibility, but the moment they asked for the R720 I knew this was it. How to catch such sheisters????

I recieved an sms this morning saying that my mobile number has won
    R710 000 in the FIFA 2010 promotion.
So I called the number they gave to call, but the guys who unswered the call
    was so unprofessional…
He did not even introduce the company… or whatever he is working for, he just
    said “Hello”.
he then asked me for my bank details, when I told him I don’t have a bank account, he wanted me to go and buy 10 MTN prepaid vouchers worth R180 each
and then to call him and give him the recharge numbers, so I put the phone down
because I knew that it was not legit.

  47. Vivienne Ayerst says:

I received an sms saying that I had won R950 000 in the Fifa Mobile award UK – (that would help! :) I called the number said to the African gent who answered the phone (Mr T. Leo) that I was sure this was a scam and that if they were out to draw money from a bank account – I did not have any. I also said that I would never give my banking account details to anyone. I continued to ask many questions, as to the website address, and if one was a winner of that amount of money -surely they would personally phone? I said that I would only accept a bank guaranteed cheque made out in my name and delivered to my postal address. He asked me to call back in 30 mins. And then said he would call me with the details….. strange that I never heard from him again :)

  48. Ivana says:

Zanima me sta je istina, a sta prevara?

  49. Neal says:

I think the scammers read this blog. Their latest scam is that you receive a text message on your mobile phone. Mine was sent 00 52: 55 The amount of money I supposedly won is now a meagre ZAR 600, 000.00. The text is sent from a SA mobile number +27723239984, but you have to phone a different mobile number +27837473620 to claim your prize. Being suspicious, I phoned the number from which the text message originated. That number does not exist on that particular service provider’s mobile network. I then phoned +27837473620 and a gentleman answered “fifa rewards centre” . Please be aware.

Mine is a bit different form yours in that it was an SMS that informed me that my cell number has won me R520 000.00 i must immediately contact James on such and such a number from Global Mobile Promotion on Friday 27 Aug 2010. I was so excited i desperately need cash so i couldnt believe my luck. Then today Monday i got an email telling me that i must first pay R3460 into their bank account for a winning certificate which is supposed to be 0.007% of my winnings.

i havent replied to the email i just forwarded it to my friend in the intelligence office to find out whether its legit or not. Its sad really because i could do with that kind of money even if its just a R1000.00

  54. Bonita says:

You guys! All the emails you get from these people claiming to give away such amounts is a lie! Are you kidding me? Don’t even bother giving out any information… Let me tell you as story: this happened to my uncle who lives in Cali. They said they needed his basic info and he needed to send them $500 so they could send him the paperwork(the email stated he inherited some random person’s money from Nigeria) and he did it! They actually sent him the paperwork and he filled it out and sent it. They never got back to him, but he lost a lot of money!! The police can’t do anything because you guys are the ones who need to actually think and be smart! Don’t let these people fool you…. NO ONE will just give away millions for no reason… Especially if you never involved yourself in a lottery or draw etc.

Well, I guess some of us are unrealistically hopeful and for a few days I too lived in dreamland. When I received my sms I quickly proportioned it as follows: KSPCA, MSPCA, WSPA, Daphne Sheldrick Elephant Orphanage, my daughters’ uni debts, my mortgage, and so much for my sisters, nieces, nephews, & dad. Then I did the sensible thing and looked up the ‘net! But not till after I’d handed out my account details. So if you’ve done what I have, maybe you’d like to do what I did next. I contacted my bank to put a red flag alert on all withdrawals on the a/c I currently use, set up a new account for where my salary actually goes, then closed the old a/c when I no longer needed it. And changed my email address – friends & family quickly get used to a new one. I’ve not been asked for money so, like many of you others out there, I wonder what they can possibly get out of it?

I have received two of these “winning” e-mails. One is from FIFA and another from a retired woman that wants me to “inherit” R 87 million dollars from the money her husband left her. What confused me and made me not to believe her was that she will no longer be connected to the world as she is retiring to a ranch. Funny hey???

I might be desparate for money but I can also see scams.

2 million dollars and that I had to contact a john martin. I knew that it was a lie. It sounded to good to be true!

First of, where is they coming up with all this money when people is over there dieing of starvation? Please tell me. Plus, how are they saying that we’ve won and we have never entered or even heard of these organizations? I am good for checking with the better business bureau and searching on google. I even searched the names and websites and found nothing. I just wanted to tell everyone that I know that it is a scam because I recently watched a show and a Nigerian man, his girlfriend and their group had set up a fake organization and was taking money out of people accounts and got caught.

So when I receive emails that want me to send in some damn money, I just delete them and you should do the same. DO NOT BE FOOLED and send them people your money! Heck, you would have to send the news to my house, or even announce my name over the radio or TV to get me to believe!

I knew it was a scam, and I now i am playing along, I asked for his PASSPORT DETAILS to show the real persons which we are incorrespondence with is Real and his Nationality shown in the passport. I know passport never lies, so I am waiting for the Persons reply and has not come back yet. …

I received an SMS telling me I had won US$5.4Million and to e-mail to make my claim.

I already knew this was a scam, but I sent the e-mail anyway to see what they came back with. Within 4 hours of e-mailing them, they responded tellingme to forward all my personal info to some guy with a gmail account.

I knew this was a scam. If people don’t realise that no one is this lucky, then the 2nd give away should be when they ask you to forward you personla information to a internet based e-mail address. If it was the real deal, surely given the fact they say you have won such a significant amount of money, they would have their own registered domain names and not be using gmail, hotmail and yahoo accounts.

Maybe the owners of gmail, hotmail and yahoo need to look at their processes and allow people to notify them of suspect e-mail addresses and have these people shut down! Remove there way of communicating and we can start to reduce the number of people that fall for the scams.

Some of these scams are so bad, that if you get sucked in, given that a lot of it has to do with stealing people money and passing it around, if the authorities find you, you can be charged and convicted of fraud and 9 times out of 10 you wouldn’t even know you had done nothing wrong.

My last word. Ignore any e-mails bringing you good luck that you.
    1: hadn’t entered a competion for &
    2. come from internet based e-mail accounts!

And tested, and it was still there!!!

Below is an email message on which I received on March 10, 2010. I have in the past received emails claiming I won so much in an email lottery. I am very skeptic, so I google those emails and found out they were a scam. I googled this one also. Look people, don’t fall for these scams. If these were legit, I believe there would be a more legit and documented way to tell us. I am so tired of them using legitimate corporations or organizations, and risking their reputation. This is the email which I received……………….

I did a reverse lookup for the phone number of this SCAM and it is a cell phone and it is showing the address or location in Las Vegas to be a building at the corner of 4th street and stewart avenue. I assume that is “downtown”. Someone should call the FBI to storm the place and lock these crooks up.

  121. Robster says:

My turn I guess, and hey $2 800 000.00 sounds like a damn lot of cash, the guys names change I see, now its Chris.D. Benjamin , but I see our famous Ly Song is still part and parcel of this whole scheme, I can only remember that the wheel turns and these guys will get whats coming to them, or in them while they sit in their tiny cell wishing they had stopped in time. People remember, what you give is what you will receive. Take strength in what these people will receive is not going to be a walk in the park. As for this website, thanks guys, you saved me a lot of embarrassment.
As for LS KINDS LLP, go get stuffed.

  122. Ettienne says:

The International Federation of Association Football – FIFA – has cautioned against illicit emails which are currently doing the rounds informing people that they had “won” 2010 FIFA World Cup “lotteries” – it’s a scam.
“FIFA continues to be alerted to emails fraudulently claiming to be associated/linked with FIFA, the 2010 FIFA World Cup and/or Local Organising Committee informing recipients that they have been selected as prize winners in a lottery draw and have won substantial sums of money,” said FIFA.

    Appear to be official

FIFA issued a statement on Monday, 19 January 2009, warning the public to treat such unscrupulous emails with utmost vigilance as some of these emails appear to be very official and tempting.

“Many of these emails appear to be official and most of them ask recipients to provide their personal details, including bank account information, in order to claim the prize money. FIFA strongly advises the public to treat any emails concerning lottery draws or cash prizes with suspicion and extreme caution,” FIFA said.

Meanwhile, the SA2010 website mailbox has also been inundated with a slew of emails from concerned recipients of such emails from all over the world.

“I received an email informing me that I won in a certain South African Lottery FIFA 2010 World Cup Bid,” said one website user, who wanted to verify the accuracy of the email.

“Please, advise how I can verify and/or confirm my winning email address in South Africa FIFA 2010 lottery because I received several emails from deferent sources. I am not certain of the accuracy of these notifications,” the user wrote.

The scam email apparently claimed the “award” was “sponsored by: Danny Jordan, FIFA President Joseph. S. Blatter and CEO/Chairman of Microsoft, Bill Gates and a consortium of software promotion companies”.

    Used as references

The con artist used the Shine 2010 and the South African 2010 Government websites as references in his letter while asking the recipient to furnish personal details. The swindler also left his seemingly credible contact details and “ticket” and “ballot” reference numbers.

FIFA distances itself from these emails and advises the public to ignore such emails and resist the temptation of divulging their personal details. FIFA also urges the public to report such scams with the Consumer Fraud Organisation

“FIFA reiterates that these lotteries have no connection with or authorisation from FIFA and are in no way related to the 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa. FIFA urges people not to provide any personal or financial details if requested to do so,” FIFA stated.

    How to spot email scams

•Email address ballot: there is no such thing as a “computer ballot system” or “computer email draw”. No one, not even Microsoft, has a database of email addresses of the type or magnitude they suggest.

•Terrible spelling, punctuation, syntax and grammar: scammers apparently don’t know how to use spell checkers. We assume they dropped out of school before that class. They use almost excessive and random CapItaLiZAtion. They often can’t even spell “February” or know that “22th” ought to be “22nd”.

•These scammers usually write at the third grade level. Being non-native English speakers, they also often get first names and surnames (last names) reversed, so you will frequently see names like “Mr. SMITH JAMES.”, instead of “Mr. James Smith”, along with the peculiar usage of periods (full stops) and spaces or the lack thereof. Real lotteries also proofread their emails and look and read more professional.

•Using free email account: the scammer is writing to you from a FREE email account (Yahoo, Hotmail, Excite, AIM, Gmail, etc.). Don’t you think a real organisation would use its own email, its own domain and website?

•”Keep Confidential”: real lotteries THRIVE on publicity – they don’t want you to keep anything secret – the publicity causes people to buy more tickets. there is NO risk of “double claiming” because they can validate where the ticket numbers were sold.

•The scammer wants you to keep quiet because they don’t want the police or ConsumerFraudreporting to hear about them! It should read: “For our own security, you are advised to keep your winning information confidential until we have finished scamming you!”

•Email notification: NO REAL LOTTERY SENDS AN EMAIL TO NOTIFY WINNERS. Period. Full-stop. End of story. There mere fact ALONE that you received an email saying you won a lottery is proof that it is a scam.

Please be aware that this is a scam. These idiots are looking for your details in order to defraud you. Do not provide them with your banking details as they have ways to clear out your accounts.

If this were true, it would have been advertised heavily in the papers in order to really promote the world cup in South africa. And besides, its not like fifa has THAT kind of cash lying around to just give away. Would have been nice if it were true but nothing in life comes free!

I also received the sms winning $2.8 mil from Mrs Janie Alfie, followed by one from Susan Brown, Chris Dean and the cherry on the Cake – a Dr W Chester – supposedly director of the ROYAL BANK OF CANADA. all of them swearing on their lives it is legit. i received several confirmation letters and a foreign transfer form from the bank. my family and i are having severe financial trouble so we were hopeful and replied and gave info incl my bank account ( which luckily is empty 99% of the time) – Ms Ly Song also sent me her Power of attorney docs etc. in the meantime – the Dear DR CHESTER from the bank emaild me that i had to pay $805 for service charges within 3 days to claim my money.

i only have internet via my cell phone so i didnt check but by then i realised somethings fishy – i spoke to my brother and he told me certain things that made me realise it was a scam…

i emailed them both telling them that i think they are scumbags and to provide proof and validation to my attorney here in south africa and to liase with him directly… i quote:: BOLLOCKS TO YOU SCUMBAGS”

i have yet to hear from them again – this was 2 days ago!!!

I am terribly afraid because they have personal details incl my bank account – i did not give them a power of attorney – my own husband doesnt have that!!

please advise me!!! I am Scared. i was naive and terribly hopeful- -my daughter has a heart condition and is always sick and i have to relocate – this would have helped had it been true

I hereby saying that i received a message that says i won $ 5000000. I was not told what to do then to claim this amount of money. My cell phone number is .

  149. Mim says:

i got this email, and would love for it to be true, so of course i try it out and now i’ve been sent a power of attorney form and transfer form as well, and the law firm is LS Kinds LLP how does one find out if its true, and let me know before i make a complete idiot of myself and i’ve actually kept all there correspondence and would like for these guys to be caught

  150. Marius says:

In December 2009, I received a text message (sms) on my mobile phone congratulating me on my $2 Million win. All I needed to do was confirm my email address. I thought I’d play along, see how far this would go. It wasn’t an instant reply (they must be very busy sending these scams).

The best part is the grammar they use, the spelling error on ‘official’ documents from a supposed attorney and the free email accounts they use. Anyway, I was sent 2 documents from attorney LS Kinds, which I have never responded to. I was never asked on either documents to reveal anything other than my full name & email address.

What would they gain from that? Anyway, just wanted to let everyone know that these scammers have somehow gotten access to our cellular/mobile number.

    Just be aware.

What a bunch of assholes. Do they honestly think that I will fall for this crap. I’m in South Africa and received the mail 12/01/10. What is concerning is the fact that they make use of the FIFA World Cup logo and mention all the relevant soccer parties in their letter. I’ve won an amazing amount of 750000 British Pound and can resign pretty soon. The reality of all is that I know its a scam and I have to work from 8h00 to 17h00 for the rest of my life.

Please don’t fall for these assholes.

  153. Rose Galvan says:

hola Iàm from Mexico and also got an SMS saying I won 2.4 US million . This is a worldwide scam! please do not answer them.
    Son ladrones!! scams!!

  154. khomotso says:

oh my gosh i cannot believe this. honestly i was getting very excited coz it looked so legit and all. until i got the “bill of cost” that i had to send to the attorneys for the “office work”. eyo it just started sounding dodgy when they start asking for payment i mean why would you be paying someone for winning. they started asking stuff like my bank details and thats when i realised that it was too dodgy. i then googled it and found all the other victims. But happily i was the victor in the fight to resist $2400000 in cash,

  155. Lesley says:

I first received a SMS informing me that I had won and dialed the number (like an idiot) got through to a French answering machine, which I obviously did not understand a word of. Then I received the e.mail informing me that I had won 750000US Dollars and that the Bank of England would be contacting me to verify my payout. I phoned the “Client Manager” who informed me their offices are at Ellis Park Johannesburg and I should fill the form out asap and forward it. I received a return e.mail from him informing me that I had indeed won and someone from the bank of England would be in contact with me in 24hours. Then I decided to goggle and came across this page. I want to do something like take serious legal action against the person that answered his cell and the other e.mail address. Who are these people and how can we stop it !! This is the most cruelest act I have experienced. We must be able to do something to stop this. Any suggestions ??

  156. Zakiyyah says:

    Good Day,

I copied and pasted the email I received in reference to this scam of all scams. I receive these somewhat frequently but always investigate first. Know the saying “if something sounds too good to be true, it normally is.” It’s bad these people prey on people especially with the economic conditions being as they are. I hope that they can be caught and prosecuted.

  166. Sampie says:

Hi, I’ve been posting the following comments on sites hoping to convince some poor sole that there is hope! Here is what I post:

I received this crap in a text message, thinking it was crap. I even went that far to pay the claim fee of $1550. To my amazement i got a payment into my bank account, but not the so claimed 2.8$ mil, rather $10 000. It all seemed legit and I did receive the money from Barclay’s.

After reading all this comments, no one went the full way, maybe you should.

I decided to write about this because I feel bad for all the people I have scammed and want to come clean. I am sorry.

  167. Jolandi & Francois says:

This is low how can people do that to other human beings? Mrs Brown Dean and LY Song you should be ashamed of yourselfs!!! Think of it this way one day you will have to stand before God and tell him why you have scammed people for money!!! If this is what money do to people then i’d rather be poor and happy!!!

  168. coops says:

OMG. I recieved the SMS saying that i have won US$2.8M. I had to contact Susan Brown I got a response and was refred to Chris Dean who refered me to Ly Song I have sent all details now I ghave a request to Pay GBP 430 , by western Union directly to Ly Song, now I realise this is a scam. I’m worried now as these sick people have my details, luckily not my Banking Details. The FIFA authorities should do something about these sick people.

  169. Odwa says:

i also received the same sms saying I won 2.8 m dollars, i must contact Mrs brown, after that Chris Dean, after that Ls kinds LLP. i decided to google them I’m glad to find out its a scam. Becareful guys.

  170. susan says:

Flip would i have loved this if it was so true. Would have been dedt free.
i am still awaiting my answer wheter it is a fruad or not – would keep you posted hey if i will here from my Attorney Mrs Ly Song

  171. Alfred Magwaca says:

Is this true, if not why do fifa allow these people to make fool of vurnable people who are in distress already. Fifa is quick on other things and on this I see no action taken to warn people about the scam.

  172. Ramah says:

Thank you all. My mother received an sms saying that she had won about 2.8 US dollarsd and the first thing I checked was these people’s email addresses. Other thing is that my mom never entered a competition via sms or even phoning any 2010 FIFA promotions and yet they claim that she won. All too obvious that this was a scam!

So I wrote back to them via email and made them aware that we know that was a scam. Till this day, they never replied.

  177. Thea says:

Im a single mom and i do not earn a lot off money i cant eaven aford the basic things in life. And still you get people who doesnt give a s@#$ and still wants to take your hard earnd money.

  178. Mazwi says:

    Hi

Huh, i also receive an sms informing me that i have won $2.8million and i was supposed to claim the prize via Mrs Susan Brown and Kindsllp attorneys, but with God being on my side I searched for this Kindsllp and found out that this is a scam.

My message to everyone out there: if you have really won a certain prize, the issuers should give you a call! am I wrong?

  179. angela says:

I also recieced same sms saying I won US$2.8m and i should contact Mrs brown, then Mr. Chris Dean and now just contacted Mrs Ly Song. something told me to do some surfing and i found all this info. thank you guys I nearly fell for it. Shame on you scam bugs.

  180. Niek says:

The same happened to me. Received SMS on 22nd Nov 09 and Mrs Susan H Brown replied promptly, Chris Dean (fifa12010@yahoo.com.hk) and attorney (Solicitor) Ly Song (lysong@kindsllp.com). The UK tel numbers and fax are real but they refuse to provide physical address. Why does Fifa not act against them using their name, but Fifa acts against South Africans trying to sell products in their own country. Do not send them any money or personal info and watch your credit accounts.

  181. Jakes says:

    I recieved this same email.

Replied to it. Got some documents from an attorney.

Contacted my own attorney regarding this.

It would be nice if all this was true but it is hard to believe.

If they are out to steal people`s money then they should be stopped.

    Thanks

Did some research on the net and found this web site. Don’t believe anything you hear or see rather investigate and then make up your mind.

Thank you for saving me money

  185. Tevin Naidu says:

Please people be on the watch out for people who wants to take away your money. I realized there must be something to it and then i went on to do some internet surfing. My suspicions was right. So if you still believe you can win that money after you read this and previous articles then you can give then your money for free. Im gonna take it up with our local newspapers to warn the people about this scam. HOPE ONE DAY ME AND YOU WIN THIS KIND OF MONEY IN AN LEGAL WAY.
    GOD BLESS

I still cant believe there are still sick people out there, instead of using their time and brains productively to benefit themselves and their family, they waste it on something so foolish and entirely not profitable.

I also can not understand how they got away with such scams, even now, without being traced and put where they belong to idle as much as they wish because honestly: There’s no country deserving to have such people with so lean understanding on how to spend given time.

My email was even mentioning: Please don’t share this information with anyone to avoid double claiming and also mentioning: Communicate through email due to high charge of cellphones, then my question was, Why worry because I’m about to be a millionaire, I was promised US$2, 800, 000.00. but you worry for my call cost!

I nearly fell for it, but i said let me poke first, then i got this..shoooo, my chosen legal practitioner is Jonathan Fyne JF Kinds.
But i’m glad because i told them to get the nearest Hell and curse their devil because no one in his right mind can spend God given time on such RUBBISH

I wish they can wake up and smell the rooibos, “poor them”. Even as I respond i’m very skeptical,,,Lord have mercy on them

    Hi,

I received an sms this a few hours ago congratulating me. The amount is US$2.8M, um, is it all a scam???? I was asked to contact Chris via email (the email address was provided).

I have seen other web pages which claim that some of these sms’s are legite. Are they? Is everyone just assuming that it is all fake or do you know for sure that it is??

    Please advise

  228. Portia says:

I cannot believe this…My mother received the exact sms from this so called promoting company telling her she’d won $2.8 mill…They sent a form to facilitate the process of claiming the prize money which we completed (being gullible and optimistic). Today I received an e-mail from them telling me to contact a nominated attorney Mr Johnson Cole and that the money will be paid into a nominated bank account.
For some reason I got a funny feeling and thought let me check the address out only to find these responses from you guys. Good thing too…
Is there anything that can be done to stop these people??Surely FIFA is being affected somehow as these people are using their name…

I am a South African and have read your comments. From what I gather I can tell you that I know some of the guys like Desmond Dube and Jabu Moleketi these stupid people have used. The people mentioned have nothing to do with World Cup. Desmond is a TV personality while JAbu is a former Deputy Minister of Finance during the tenure of former South African president Thabo Mbeki. Those who trusted their gut feelings and ignored the scam did the right thing

Be that as it may Here in South Africa because we know their style of doing things have come up with different approach. Today I received a letter from the post saying I was being informed that FIFA Grants Award in conjunction with the European Champion Spain and united Nation organisation are giving me
€ 715, 810, 000. 00. They claim that this is a measure of universal development strategy in trying to balance the standard of living among citizens of South Africa in preparation for SOUTH AFRICA FIFA WORLD CUP 2010.
The letter goes on and on with these utterances and warns that I must not tell anybody not until the money has been deposited in my account. My mini research done suggested that all people listed in th letter were unknkwn entities by FIFA

I have received the following unsolicited email.

    Attn: Mr. XY

I have not seen your mail but I write you now, based on our telephonic conversation. I want you to bear in mind that whichever way you will have to know that As a matter of policy once winners has been notified any expenditure in the course of their claims will be borne by the winner.

Like I suggested to you that it will be easier for you to employ the service of an accredited attorney who will represent you in this course, since you do not have direct flight to Johannesburg , and again you will have to get a visa and all the logistics before embarking on this trip , bearing in mind the cost of your hotel accommodation for three days here, you still have to come along with this fees Registration and Notarization fee , Stamp and Deed Duty fee, legalization and Administrative cost if you calculate this it will amount to €3,750( three thousand Seven hundred and fifty euro) which is more expensive considering employing the services of an accredited attorney. If you choose to come you must come along with this fee.

This is because preferences are given to the attorney’s since they are working for the Organisation but hence you are here you will have to bear the expenditure in this vain all alone.

As your claim Agent I will advise you to employ the services of an attorney immediately as this is less expensive.

  254. The dude says:

Good ol Mr. Paul Morgan almost threw me for a loop. He actually called me sounding like a genuine person. When I heard that you would have to pay $550 to get a $2,000,000.00 check sent by DHL (which I knew was a lot due to me receiving previous goods shipped transglobal via Ebay), I was a little bit skeptical. When I heard that it would be $1550 to have it wired to a bank account, I was done. There is no way that you have to spend that amount of money to get a prize claim. If so, take it out of my winnings. Nice try guys, but no dice.

Just received similar e-mail today. Contact person is Mike Zuma. Looks like they might be attempting to legitimize the appearance of the validity because I won 2nd place ($820,000.00 instead of 1st Place ($1,000,000.00). Funny thing is I have never entered any contests by email. I really feel sorry for the ignorant and greedy people who fall for these type scams.

  268. Desire says:

Had a similar email today, was nearly fooled only because this sum of money would assist me, family, friends and those in desperate need.
My contact person was Mr. John Modise I have sent an email to ‘andre@gamblingcontrol.org’;’ccchair@gcb.nv.gov’;’shenseljar@state.pa.us’ one of whom is chief exec for International Association of Gaming Regulators (IAGR), asking if this is a scam (no reply as yet). I may not be a millionairess when I wake in the morning but after reading the above comments neither will I be the idiot who believed this really was true (shame it isn’t though hey!), thank goodness for the internet and the opportinuty/ability to research; I will however sleep well now tonight.

  269. Ron says:

I like messing with them, Here is my reply.

    Thank you!

That is GREAT news to hear. My wife is currently traveling through South Africa
with her collages from the Red Cross Society, I think they are currently in or near Beaufort West.

My wife and I are financially secure. I inherited 16.3 million from my late aunt Esther
    last summer.

So I am going to give my wife the biggest birthday gift ever. I would like to donate the
entire amount of my winnings (minus taxes and any processing fees) to the following
    organization.

The South African Red Cross Society
    Standard Redcross Donations
    Standard Bank – Constantia
    Account Number: 071760571
    Branch Code: 025309
    SWIFT Code: SBZAZAJJ

I will make the following arraignments with Standard Bank – Constantia. I will send them a
signed release of my interest in the winnings. I will also send a certified and signed transfer of
funds form. They will be arraigning the transfer of funds with your claims department early
    next week.

My contact Nelson Botha at Standard Bank – Constantia is taking care of all arraignments.
Here is his phone number 0860101341.

I would like to thank you Mr. Daniel Jomoh.

Together we can make a difference in the world.
