I received something very similar myself in my Hotmail account… maybe even more legit-looking! It stated I’d won 600,000 British Pounds! The curious thing was I didn’t even get a peep to this effect at my Yahoo account… the very account the prize was being attributed too! XD

Me too, I just won the lottery twice in one week and more than 10 times in 3 months!!! I won different lotteries such as Bill Gates!!! This happened after I had problems with spyware Virtumonde Trojan! But I manged to fix it! Surely you can’t win a competition you didn’t enter. This is a scam!

What saved me was that I made inquiries about the Lottery through Google search engine.

I received this on 12/30/07 seems to be an updated version of the scam.
Does anyone know what happens if you send them your passport copy?
I have actually watched a special feature on the Oprah Winfrey Show about it. The minute I received the email, I large part of me knew this was what the show was talking about especially since they used a country in Africa as a classic bank reference.
Anyway, I jus checked it out for myself since the information they were asking seemed to be harmless.
Upon receiving the second notice by email, I knew it really was a fraud. At first I thought of course how could Yahoo and Hotmail know about your whereabouts since you just filled up limited information to have an email account with them. I thought of it as their way of confirming your personal information. I was right, this is a hoax.

I got between one and three winning notifications out of four draws one lotto said they had each month, and got winning notices from at least five lottos in the past year. Some had sentence word choices that looked retarded. Do you think they think Interpol can’t find their email addresses and names? They put them on the award notices with phone numbers, if their scam is illegal, police should have no trouble calling them or sending them an email the same day they are noticed or reported.

We received a similar mail and were about to fall for it. Luckily happened to search the net for such schemes (scams). In our case the perpetrator went one step ahead and sent an Identification of Card of someone claiming to be yahoo international lottery agent to lend credibility… In fact we made a couple of calls to the given number also……

I’ve recieved 4 email s from a doramorgan101@luckymail.com to say that I had won a Yahoo Internet Lottery ffor 320,000 British Pounds followed by a phone call by someone who couldn’t speak English properly. The first email had graphics etc which made it look genuine. I was stupid enough to repond. and give a scanned passpo. I am now looking at a printed copy of the bank cheque from the Royal Bank of Scotland. I am supposed to contact a local person to pay $5,000 to who will organise a courier to drop off the consignment. Lucky I did some research and realised that these a leeches who are invading honest lives. I agree….MAY GOD PUNISH THEM ALL.

I had an e mail sayin i had won 800,000 pounds on the Yahoo Lottery and fell straight in to the bloody trap! i replied to the e mail and they got back to me sayin i had to get in touch with City Link courier and thats wot made me believe it abit more coz i hav seen a Cilty Link van – I feel a right muppet :(
City Link replied to me sayin i need to pay like nearly £400 to hav my cheque deliverd – Thats when i stopped and had to find out more about this ‘Yahoo Lottery’ thing

When I 1st got one of these emails, I thought my dream had all come true. I was so excited I when out and told my friend and family and I replied to their email. Then they stared to ask for money, ( money I didnt have to start with). I paid the 1st lot of money, thinking I would receive my 1.5 million but no, all I got was excuses and demands for more money. Thats when red flags when up and thats when I talked to my bank manager. He saved me from making a terrible mistake. Thank you Paul.
How can these people be so evil. You cant player with peoples feelings like this. You build up peoples hopes, then you steal their money and leave them with nothing. That is just down right nasty. I believe in what goes around, comes around and you will get your.

so please conform me that mail was true or false.

I myself am dealing these type of lottery winning prizes scheme not one but at least
20 of them.I am taking all the SPAM EMAILS linked with these lucrative promises to pay 500000 USD or 1000000 USD in one lottery or other.I am replying all of them promptly and with the details they ask for.
Now when the stage of asking me to pay 500 USD or 2500 GBP comes I without any hitch ask them to deduct it from the winning amount and send me the balance through telegraphic bank wire transfer channel.
I take it sportingly. Now I am sure in all the 100% cases I am dealing with them (20 cases at present)they will in no case be agree to accept my scheme to first deduct all the expenses /charges etc. at your place and only then after making you satisfied with deduction of all type of expenses out of my winning prize money then the remaining lottory prize money be send/Transfer to my Savings Bank Account at my placethrough telegraphic bank wire transfer channel.
I am a bit crazy and useing my spare time to go in deep into their dirty network.
I do not know what is finally stored for me in involving me so deep into it.In few of the present 20 cases after my flat refusal to first pay the charges of 500-2500 USD or GBP no reply is coming from them.
