Portable Mini Speakers for iPhone Driod iPod MP3
I can’t tell you the number of times I’ve wanted to listen to my MP3 Player or iPhone using portable speakers without having to plug the device into an external speaker system!
Recently, I found the OmniTech mini speaker, the hottest tech toy on the market for under $10!
The sound is absolutely fantastic, incredible bass and no distortion – What makes these portable mini speakers so fantastic is that it can be charged so that is supplies it’s own power!

The instructions say that it takes four hours to charge, but it only took me two – simply connect the USB to your computer and it starts charging; once the red light turns blue, you’re ready to go. It comes with an on/off switch, volume control, and with a twist it expands to deliver you the bass and sound that you would expect to hear from a high end sound system!
This is a stand alone speaker and works with just about any device, iPhone, iPod and other MP3 players, mini recorders, Droid, etc and is available only at staples, for $9!

I searched the internet and could not find any reference to this portable mini speaker, but for your reference, the label says:
OmniTech
Model# 18721
Batt: Li-ion 3.7V/300mAh
Charge: DC 5V
I highly doubt these speakers will last long, so stop by now and pick one up – it makes an awesome gift!
Update: 12/06/09
Was shopping for Christmas Gifts at Toysrus and found these iHome portable mini speakers on sale for $19.99 and appear to be the exact same, just different name. Competitive out there! Here is a picture:

Although I could not find much information about OmniTech Speakers, I did find a ton on iHome by doing a search for iHM7BC Portable Multimedia Speaker; prices ranged from $19.95 to $29.95.
In short, $9 is a steal!!!

Bought one yesterday, the sound quality is absolutely awesome! Thanks for the advice.
Picked on up today and it really does produce good sound. I have had larger travel speakers that did not sound half as good as this bargain priced item.
I purchased one last night and listened to it most of the day today from a full charge state. Amazing it lasted that long and has a great sound for its size. I was playing my Sansa e280 with the awesome Rockbox firmware so I could really tweak in the EQ settings since I found the mid frequencies a bit emphasized. I will be buying 3 more tomorrow – two for kids stocking stuffers and one (spare) for me.
I got quite a laugh from the instructions Safety Rules. Bullet 3 was the best, “Please note that this speaker is not edible and should not be placed in your mouth”. Really? I mean, REALLY?!?! What a riot… Those couple minutes of laughter with my teens when sharing this was worth the $10 alone. :)
Scott,
Good eye – That is hilarious! I didn’t catch that – the print was too small for me ;) – I scanned the instructions you refer to for all to see and included it below:
Thanks!
Jim
I stumbled upon this deal at staples too and in the 5 days since I bought it it has performed perfectly. Its a quick and convenient way of sharing your music with others around you. My son snagged it from me to plug into his DS, it gave the games nice bass sounds. I should have bought one for him too.
Ya. I totally approve and recommend this device to anyone looking for an inexpensive portable speaker. It has great range and the volume get’s plenty loud.
it is so great, i love it and the quality amazing!!!!!
Do you know the Staples model number – I got one at Xmas and love it too. Should have bought two or three but had not heard it. It works better than I could have imagined. This is hands down the best, easiest speaker system out there – and have been burned a few times by more $$$ speaker systems from the apple store. That sounded good but where to hard to work. Any chance you know the model number from Staples – I have asked at the store I purchase from and well I am speaking – star wars to them. Any help would be great!
Hi Don,
The only model number is what I have listed above. They were next to the cash register.
Also – You can get the same thing at Toysrus, you’ll just have to pay more.
They are awesome, no? Amazing that such a small device can produce such sound!
Hiya. I work at Staples, and I bought many of these for gifts and a couple for myself after hearing from a customer that they worked well. I use it for my droid playing Pandora radio… I love it!!! Ive still yet to need to charge the battery too, pretty dang good for 10 bucks. Unfortunately they clearance d out after the holiday season, and are not available anymore. They may be back next holiday season with our promotional products!
Good luck!
