Here is information on how to identify fake email (Spoofed).

Your may receive an email with the reply-to line looking something like “some@bank.com” or other service you may have. Be aware that many times an can be forged and although it may look like your bank, it’s actually a hacker trying to get your personal information.

Here is an email I received from Register.com, what I believe to be one of the most expensive registration services out there. They warn that ‘Your Personal Information is Not Protected!’ – their goal is for me to buy whois protection.

Most hosting companies offer this free of charge, such as 1and1

Here is a email I received this morning from sec@iinet.net.au – This email is designed to scare you into thinking your computer has been hacked and being used to attack other systems.  The email even goes so far as to attach the I-Worm Stration Virus and pass it off as antivirus software.
