I get an incredible amount of comment spam, most are caught by Akismet and the ones that make it through usually scream spam.
Comment spam has the sole purpose of creating links back to a site. Take WordPress blogs for example, by default, they allow you to leave a comment with your name, email address and website address.
Humans leaving comments for link backs will read a bit of the post, a few comments, then add something of their own based around the topic of the page. Bots however, can’t read and leave anything that makes sense.
Bots are programs designed to scour the internet for pages that allow comments and then leave a message with an email and link back to a site.
I can spot these comments because I modified my comment form so that only the email address and name are accepted; a spot for a website address just doesn’t appear.
When you fill out a form, that form with the entries are then sent to the site for processing – Bots don’t leave comments the way human do, they bypass the comment form and post their entries directly, so when I see a comment come in that has a link back, I know it’s a bot.
Lately, I’ve been getting some comments that if it wasn’t for the link back, I would had a hard time spotting it. Below, I’m going to share those tricky comments as I receive them.
Enjoy!

Hi
Good job there are some of us out there that are on to this and don’t take these scam emails seriously!!!!
Hi, I also received an S.M.S. to congratulate me in my 650 00.00 U.K.Pounds. I am just wondering why Coca Cola does not take steps against these guys who uses their brand for this scam???.
I can’t figure out why google sent me to this site but I can say I have been certainly captivated by the information you have pulled together. How many days did it take to start getting so many to your internet page? I am fairly to this web site stuff.

Here is the first one:
After reading some of the comments I wonder whether they in reality read the blog posts and reports before leaving your 2 cents or maybe they just look at the title of the entry and type the very first thought that comes to mind. regardless, it is nice to browse through clever commentary from time to time instead of the exact same, old blog vomit which i generally notice on the internet
