Atkins Diet Menu

Yahoo! Personals Canada

I recently entered into a weight loss competition and found this on my desk this morning. At first, I thought it was a ploy to throw me off my super secret diet, but turns out it’s part of the Atkins Diet Menu.

I tried the Atkins diet before and after just three days, felt disoriented, weak and moved to another menu.

After seeing this selection (that’s a diet pop btw), I decided to do more research and what I found was shocking!

I found many blog posts that claimed the Atkins diet menu reduced cholesterol and was good for your heart, but just about every post seemed like it was an advertisement and not a real testimonial.

I decided to dig a little deeper and found that information claiming the atkins diet menu actually restricts foods that prevent disease; to top it off, it mentions that Atkins distorted his record on cholesterol! A statement from the AMA is also quoted saying that ketogenic diets cause a number of serious potentially life threatening complications and of these diets, the Atkins Diet presented the greatest danger!

The best dietary strategy to reduce the risk of heart attack is by reducing the consumption of saturated fat and cholesterol, something the atkins diet menu apparently does not do; even researchers paid by Atkins admit that such diets tend to increase LDL cholesterol.

I obtained all this information from the urls below. You can also find a ton of information by searching the net for Atkins and cholesterol. The information on this page is a report of what I found, you should perform your own research before making a decision on the Atkins plan. Here are the urls:

I also found information about a man from Florida that is suing Atkins for $28,000 because the diet blocked his artery after increasing his cholesterol. See http://query.nytimes.com/gst/fullpage.html?res=9400E0DE133EF934A15756C0A9629C8B63

According to PubMed, a service of the U.S. National Library of Medicine, low-carbohydrate diets cannot be recommended. Here is the link to the full article: http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/15351198

Although my search was a cursory one, I error on the side of caution and stick to my super secret diet plan.
