FDIC alert: Check your Bank Deposit Insurance Coverage

An email has been floating around this week informing people that their bank has been seized by the federal government with instructions on downloading software to protect your assets.

Do not download any such software! The FDIC is not going to send out such emails. The software, once installed, will collect all your personal data and report the information to a malicious website!

This is the YAHOO MAIL LOTTERY scam that I received today. It came in as an email from omarrichard@gala.net with the following body:

Download attachment and contact claim agent for your payment.

Dr.(Mrs.) Susan Alex

After scanning the attachment (called Yahoo Payment Approval) for viruses, I found the following document:

I received a question from Debra today about a Randy James Financial scam and thought I would post it for all to see. Basically, there appears to be a scammer out there responding to people who place ads looking for private investors and end up taking your money.

MSN is Closing Down Phishing Email

This email just came in from zoe shepherd . The email claims that MSN Mails server names are almost full and they only have 578 names left (that’s impossible by the way, the number of names is infinite!)
